Scientific publication: Selective and scalable oxygenation of heteroatoms using the elements of nature: air, water, and light

Creaflow is pleased to announce a new open access publication in the Beilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, with contribution from Koen Van Aken. The article is available to read and download via the link below.

Method and scope

The study presents a selective and scalable oxygenation of heteroatoms using only air, water, and light. The approach is catalyst free, delivers high conversions with excellent selectivity, and works in batch as well as in flow. The substrate scope covers X = S, Se, and P, with discussion of key parameters such as light intensity, solvent, and additives that enable a robust and sustainable protocol.

Flow implementation and scalability

The authors show how the method translates to continuous flow using a simple, reliable setup with LED illumination. This provides an efficient route for reproducible oxidations that supports both R&D work and scale-up toward production.
